Dogs Characters: Back Row Left To Roght: C3PO, Obiwan Kenobi, Stormtrooper. Middle Row Left To Right: R2D2, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Darth Vader Bottom Row Left To Right: Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Wicket W. Warrick (Ewok) Volkswagen is switching from the Dark Side to the Bark Side. Playing off of its very viral Star Wars-themed advertisement from the 2011 Super Bowl, which featured a pint size Darth Vader experimenting with “The Force” to humorous results, the automaker is teasing its 2012 campaign with a commercial featuring a chorus of dogs barking the tune to Vader’s theme song from the film. In the spot, eleven dogs of various breeds, some dressed like characters from the sci-fi classic, are seated in what looks like a spaceship set from the film. Part of the way through the song, one of the pooches dressed like Chewbacca lets even lets out a Wookie roar. But the kicker is near the end when what appears to be an Italian greyhound silently struts across the screen dressed up as an AT/AT, the giant armored walking vehicles used by The Empire to attack the rebel base on the ice Planet Hoth in the second film in the series, “The Empire Strikes Back.” The commercial closes with the tag line “Back. And Better than Ever,” but doesn’t indicate if it is referring to a new car or perhaps mini-Vader himself. VW is clearly trying to get the most out of its upcoming commercial time during the big game, which is reportedly going for million per minute this year …

@mrpink99 @ImHiYrStnd Moore’s law, if? it’s there it will bound to happen
out of 60k viewers, there is BOUND to be..
@Prence I have the software to record “What U Hear” and also software to convert to a usuable ringtone? but loading it to YT changes the format to a unusable ring tone format.
@FILA22081989 Each dog has it’s own trainer just off camera and the dogs have been trained to bark by hand command by their specific trainer. This works good when all dogs are in a group.
However, for the howls, each trainer and his dog worked independently and this is why each dog howling is shot seperate and then added to the group scene. With the dog’s head pointed skyward, the dog cannot see the trainer’s hand command while in the howl process and is not possible to sync in group shots.?
@Valca000 @ mrpink99 Yeah, what are you going to do except disable the whole rating? and why spoil it for everyone else just because of a few idiots.
@ImHiYrStnd TY kind sir.?
:39? flippin’ hilarious
i? only came for 0:39 halarious shit!
I hate volkswagens but I love star wars? and this by far is the coolest commercial ever! Weird that they didn’t show it in the super bowl. But I saw it four days before the super bowl and I thought it was the bomb! Ok I’m done haha
@ImHiYrStnd I finally found someone who made it into a? mp3 for me. Called a friend of mine who works with computers and he recorded it and sent me the mp3. Went right on my phone. lol.
Thank you though.
@ImHiYrStnd I would be surprised if every dog weren’t shot separately, and the entire scene composited later. First, it’s just plain easier to do each dog separately, because you only have to rely on a good take of a single? dog, eleven times, rather than having to rely on eleven dogs working flawlessly in concert for a single take.
Plus, having eleven trainers sending signals simultaneously would be distracting, and even well-trained dogs such as service dogs are prone to distraction.
LOVE? THIS!!!
fucking love the? chewbacca one <3
@FILA22081989 No problem?
@LurkilyModAbuse You could be right, I was kind of wondering that myself.
I only know for sure that the dog howls were shot seperate because of the sync problem tryhing to get the dogs to look at the trainer while howling.
I will say this; if each dog? was shot independently, then the editing is first rate, you cannot distinquish where each edit took place.
Hell of a job on this one
@aaweber Thanks
?
@bellagirl1015 Glad you liked it?
@orangejuicemuffins I was looking for it in the Super Bowl also.
I like Star Wars too, check out my Foreigner ~ Starrider? video.
Thanks
@Cherryohs1976? Thanks
@krazyazndrifter Definitely looks? like Chewbacca
hahahaha, This is so funny…I had to listen two times before I really ‘heard’ the Bark Side? theme…lol. thumbs up. Love to you and Diane, Karen
This? is super cute!
@ImHiYrStnd Editing isn’t really a problem – something an amateur can do with a green screen and good quality editing software. (Look at some of Freddie Wong’s “Making? Of” videos for some insight here.) It’s made even simpler by the pure white background.
That’s why I would be so surprised if they made any effort at all to film the dogs as a group – the editing required should be something an amateur VFX artist should be capable of, the filming and training is the challenge.
@kvalle1 I thought it was cute.
I love dogs as you know and this just spoke to me.
I had to? upload it.
@AnnieCanada? My passion for dogs and the cuteness of it, I just had to post it
@LurkilyModAbuse I’m not for sure whether each dog was filmed independently or not but if I were in charge of making this video, I would have at least ‘tried’ to film it as a group first.
There is something to be said for ‘spontanaity’ and? if it works, so much the better.
